Tool Selector
Choose which integrations and MCP connectors ChatPRD can use in each chat, and reconnect tools whose sign-in expired.
The Chat tools menu controls which integrations ChatPRD can use in a conversation. Turn tools on or off for each chat, so ChatPRD only reaches the data you want.
Where to find it
Click Chat tools (the wrench) in the chat composer. When tools are on, a badge next to the wrench shows how many.
How it works
- Click the wrench to open Chat tools ("Enable connected tools for this chat").
- Find a tool in the list, or type in Search tools....
- Switch each tool on or off for this conversation.
- Close the menu and keep chatting. ChatPRD searches the tools you turned on whenever they're relevant.
You can change which tools are on at any point in a conversation.
Available tools
Depending on what you've connected and your plan, the menu can include:

| Custom MCP | Any MCP server you add yourself with Add MCP server details manually. |
Some connectors are rolling out gradually, so not every workspace sees every tool. MCP connectors and custom MCP servers are available on Pro, Team and Enterprise plans. Microsoft Teams and SharePoint work with OpenAI models; with another model selected, they show OpenAI only and ask you to switch models. See MCP Connectors Overview.
Tool status
Each tool shows its status, with a button to fix it:

| Not connected | Not set up yet. | Click Connect to sign in. |
| Needs Authentication | The sign-in expired. | Click Reconnect. |
| Connection issue | Something went wrong with the connection. | Click Review connection. |
Reconnect an expired tool
When a tool's sign-in expires, it's marked Needs Authentication both here and in Settings > Integrations. Click Reconnect:
- For built-in tools, like Linear, Notion or Shortcut, ChatPRD takes you straight to that tool's sign-in, then brings you back to the same chat so you can pick up where you left off.
- For a custom MCP server, its connection details open right in the chat so you can sign in again.
Connect works the same way for a tool you haven't set up yet. A few tools, like v0, open their settings page instead, because they need details such as an API key.
Manage integrations
To connect or disconnect integrations, click Manage integrations at the bottom of the menu, or go to Settings > Integrations.
Tips
- Turn on only the tools you need, to keep answers focused and fast.
- Ask for a tool by name, for example "Check Linear for the sprint status".
- ChatPRD searches the tools you turned on whenever your question relates to them.
