MCP Connectors Overview

ChatPRD supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors that let you pull real-time data from your everyday tools directly into chat. When an MCP connector is active, ChatPRD can read from and interact with the connected service on your behalf while you work.

What are MCP Connectors?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to external data sources. ChatPRD uses MCP to integrate with tools like GitHub, Notion, Linear, Atlassian, and Granola so you can reference live data from those services without leaving your conversation.

Unlike traditional export integrations (which push documents out), MCP connectors bring context in. When you ask ChatPRD a question, it can automatically search your connected tools for relevant issues, pages, meeting notes, and more.

Available Connectors

• GitHub — Access repositories, issues, and pull requests. Great for referencing engineering work while writing PRDs.
• Notion — Search pages, databases, and wikis. Pull existing specs and notes into your conversation.
• Linear — Browse issues, projects, and sprints. Check what the team is working on and create tickets from chat.
• Atlassian (Jira & Confluence) — Search Jira issues and Confluence pages. Keep product work aligned with your Atlassian workspace.
• Granola — Search meeting notes and transcripts. Reference decisions and action items from recent meetings.

Requirements

• A Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan is required to use MCP connectors.
• Each connector must be individually authorized via OAuth from the Integrations settings page.
• Connectors are enabled per-chat using the Tool Selector (the wrench icon next to the chat input).

How to Connect

1. Go to Settings > Integrations in ChatPRD.
2. Scroll to the "MCPs and Connectors" section.
3. Click the connector you want to set up (e.g., GitHub, Notion).
4. Authorize ChatPRD to access your account via the OAuth flow.
5. Once connected, the integration will appear as available in the Tool Selector.

How to Use Connectors in Chat

Once connected, you control which tools are active for each conversation using the Tool Selector.

1. Open a new chat or continue an existing thread.
2. Click the wrench icon in the chat input area to open the Tool Selector.
3. Toggle on the connectors you want to use in this conversation.
4. Start chatting — ChatPRD will automatically search your connected tools when relevant.

You can also explicitly ask ChatPRD to use a specific tool, such as "search my Linear issues for the payments epic" or "find the onboarding PRD in Notion."

Privacy and Security

• All connections use OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for secure authorization.
• ChatPRD only accesses data when you actively use a connector in a chat session.
• You can disconnect any integration at any time from the Integrations settings page.
• Rate limits are enforced per user to ensure fair usage and protect your connected accounts.
