Use the Reformatting Prompt in ChatGPT
Ask ChatGPT to reformat rather than reinvent the recipe. Require exact source values, inline quantities, divided-ingredient accounting, and a reconciliation table.
Example prompt
Reformat this authorized recipe into: title, source, yield, prep time, cook time, ingredients, equipment, and numbered instructions. In every instruction, repeat the exact ingredient and quantity used in that step. Preserve source units, temperatures, timing, order, doneness cues, and safety notes. If an ingredient is divided, show the portion in each step and confirm the portions total the listed amount. Do not add substitutions or new technique unless I request them. End with a source-to-output reconciliation table. [recipe]

- An ingredient, amount, or instruction disappears during reformatting
- Reconcile the output line by line with the source and regenerate only after listing every mismatch.
- The model silently converts units, substitutions, temperatures, or timing
- Lock source values by default and label any requested conversion or adaptation separately.
- An ingredient used more than once is repeated at its full amount
- Calculate and label divided quantities, then confirm that the step totals equal the ingredient list.
