1. Set Up Your Profile

Your profile is essential for tailoring ChatPRD to your needs. Here's how to make it great:

  1. Go to your Profile settings.
  2. Fill out basic information, including your company, role, and goals.
  3. Generate a bio using our AI button
  4. Configure your preferences, such as your language, industry focus, and preferred communication style.

This information helps ChatPRD create documents that align with your context and needs.

2. Explore and Use Templates

Templates are the backbone of ChatPRD’s document creation capabilities. View and set up your templates in settings.

You will have access to both:

  • Predefined Templates: Access dozens of templates for PRDs, technical design documents, and more.
  • Custom Templates (Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans): Import templates as PDFs, paste text directly, or manually create templates.
  • Shared Templates (Teams plan): Collaborate by sharing templates with your team. Assign a team lead to manage templates and keep them organized.

3. Set Up Integrations

Integrations expand ChatPRD’s functionality. Be sure to set up all your relevant integrations.

  • Google Drive: Import documents for reference or export completed documents seamlessly.
  • Notion: Connect your Notion workspace to export documents directly.
  • Slack: Pro users with a paid Slack plan can interact with ChatPRD directly in Slack.

4. Create and Edit Documents

ChatPRD excels at helping you create and refine product documents. Here's how to get started making your first document:

  • Turn writing mode ON and elect a template.
  • Provide project details and ask ChatPRD to "write a document", and ChatPRD will generate a draft.
  • Use the live editor to make changes directly.
  • Request specific improvements, like clarifying technical sections or rephrasing sentences.
  • Inline suggestions and focused recommendations will help you polish your work.

5. Collaborate and Share

ChatPRD makes collaboration easy:

  • Share documents with specific team members or create public links.
  • Branch chats to continue your teammates's work.
  • Create custom templates and share with your team.
  • Create shared Projects for context sharing and collaborate on initiatives.

6. Discover ChatPRD Projects

Projects provide focused assistance for specific tasks or areas. You can:

  • Create a custom project with a name and description.
  • Upload relevant files for context (e.g., PDFs, presentations).
  • Start new chats within your project to ensure consistent context sharing and learning.

Additional Tips

  • Workspaces: Individual users will typically have a "Personal Workspace", while teams should use their organization's workspace under a Teams plan.
